Book Review for
Simple Courage -- A True Story of Peril on the Sea
by Frank Delaney
In late December 1951, the freighter Flying Enterprise, during Force 12 winds,
was hit by a rogue wave which cracked its deck and hull. This story is
about how the world listened and waited as the courageous captain,
Kurt Carlsen, refusing to leave his ship, fought to save the passengers,
the crew, and the cargo. The author was a boy growing up in Ireland.
A very engaging and dramatic story of courage and dedication.
