Book Review for
Sharpe's Trafalgar (Spain1805)
by Bernard Cornwell
The 4th in the Richard Sharpe series.
Sharpe is taking a ship back to England to join a newly formed rifle regiment,
the Green Jackets. His ship, the Calliope, is captured by a French warship and
his
jewels are stolen, which had been left in safe-keeping with the captain,
who betrays
their ship to the French. Also stolen is a treaty which, when
delivered,
could provoke
India into a new war against the British. The Calliope is
recaptured
by an old friend of
Sharpe, and now he and Captain Chase must find the French
ship to avert a new war with
India. The climax of their chase takes them into
the Battle of Trafalgar itself, where the
strength of the British navy meets the combined French and Spanish navies.
A superb, action-packed tale.
