Italian fishing trawler is shot to death by a Tunisian patrol boat off Sicily's coast.
The murders are connected, and Inspector Montalbano finds clues that uncover a

son who resorts to stealing other children's school snacks.  Montalbano's devoted love,
Livia, grows deeply fond of the child and wants to marry Montalbano so they can legally
adopt him. These wonderful mysteries are filled with Italian humor, cynicism,
